Multicloud Transformation & Cloud Migration Factory

Effyis assisted a French bank in migrating 90% of its applications to the cloud, reducing its data center footprint and cutting operational costs by up to €100 million annually.

Challenges:

Effyis supported a major French bank in its "Cloud First" initiative to migrate 90% of its application portfolio to the cloud, aiming to modernize the infrastructure and reduce its data center footprint. The goal was to lower its carbon footprint and achieve savings of up to €100 million annually by consolidating operations into just 25 regional data centers.

Approach and Actions:

Effyis started with an in-depth IT assessment (Discovery Assessment) to evaluate the bank's existing assets. Based on this, we defined the target private and public cloud architectures and constructed a DevOps-driven software factory for the migration process.
We then orchestrated the migration scenarios in line with the bank's multicloud strategy, ensuring applications met eligibility criteria related to business needs, technological obsolescence, security, and license portability. A focus was placed on cost reduction and stabilizing databases during the migration process.

Results:

The project maximized ROI by leveraging ReHosting and RePlatforming strategies, which helped reduce technological debt, improve security, and avoid vendor lock-in. Additionally, the bank reduced its data center footprint from 4 to 2, significantly decreasing both its operational costs and carbon footprint.

This transformation delivered significant savings, efficiency improvements, and aligned with the bank's sustainability goals.
